Crash Test Results & Compliance

Tested per AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8, Crash tested by independent certifiers Australia Performance Vehicles (APV), with confirmed compliance for light & medium traffic areas. The test sample consisted of Type F single rail Kwik-Guard® posts with two W beams and TB20160G through-bolt fixings, meeting the specified performance standards.
Kwikguard guardrails are engineered to meet or exceed industry safety standards, including:
  • Australian Safety Standards (e.g. AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8)
  • Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements for warehouse and car park sites.

Crash Test Results & Compliance
  • Test Type: Type F 30 kN test
  • System Tested: Kwik-Guard® Single Height
  • Standard: AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8
  • Performance: Energy-absorbing Kwik-Guard® guard rail system; preserves substrate upon impact
  • Verification: Independently tested for compliance, safety, and reliability

Kwik-Guard® guardrails are designed to absorb significant impact forces from moving vehicles or equipment. Their modular design helps to distribute force effectively, reducing damage to both the guardrail and surrounding infrastructure. The Type F 30 kN test on the Kwik-Guard® Single Height Base Plated Top Mount guardrail system followed AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8 standards. Conducted on a sample with a single W beam and TB20160G through-bolt fixings, the test confirmed compliance with Section 3.8(a)(i) for Light Traffic areas. The system demonstrated effective impact resistance and energy absorption, preserving the substrate upon impact. Independent testing verified its reliability and compliance with the specified standards.

Kwik-Guard® guardrails play a crucial role in protecting workers and equipment from potential accidents by:

  • Clearly marking boundaries between pedestrian and vehicle zones
  • Reducing the risk of collisions in high-traffic areas
  • Providing a physical barrier against penetration into a protected zone

Yes, Kwik-Guard® guardrails are designed with a corrosion-resistant hot dipped galvanised finish, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. They withstand harsh weather conditions without compromising on safety or durability.

Kwik-Guard® guardrails are designed for easy installation. Their modular system allows for quick assembly, with a one bolt fixing method, rather than the traditional four bolts, as well as coming equipped with a w-beam rail holder on the posts, which reduces labour costs during installation. They can also be adjusted or relocated as safety needs change.

Kwik-Guard® stands out for its:
  • Superior build quality and materials
  • Customisable configurations for various industrial and construction needs
  • High level of compliance with safety standards
  • Focus on innovation with continual product development

Further Information on Crash Test Results and Standards Compliance

Kwik-Guard® guardrail systems have been subjected to comprehensive dynamic testing, in accordance with AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8. The testing included both Type G and Type F configurations to assess their performance and compliance. For Medium Traffic applications, the Type G 40 kN test on the Kwik-Guard® Double Height Base Plated Top Mount, equipped with double rail posts and two W beams using TB20160G through-bolt fixings, demonstrated compliance with Section 3.8(b). This system was independently tested and verified for its energy-absorbing capabilities and substrate preservation upon impact. In addition, for Light Traffic areas, the Type F 30 kN test was conducted on the Kwik-Guard® Single Height Base Plated Top Mount, featuring single rail posts with one W beam and TB20160G through-bolt fixings. This configuration successfully met the requirements of Section 3.8(a)(i), confirming its impact resistance and energy-absorbing properties. These results reinforce the compliance and reliability of Kwik-Guard® guardrails, providing assurance for their application in various traffic conditions and safety scenarios.

Yes, Kwikguard offers customisable options to suit the unique requirements of different workplaces. Customers can choose from various sizes, materials, and finishes to ensure optimal performance in their specific environment.

Kwikguard guardrails are available through authorised distributors and directly from the manufacturer. For more information on pricing and availability, please contact the sales team or visit our website.

Kwikguard guardrails come with an industry leading 2 year manufacturer’s warranty, covering defects in materials and workmanship. Regular maintenance includes inspections for damage and ensuring the integrity of the guardrails is preserved in high-traffic areas.

The minimum edge distance for the anchor point of Type F is 105mm. If the back of the base plate aligns with the edge of the ramp (also known as the slab, or footing), it will comply with this specification. Please contact for more details, our team can engineer details for a small fee to ensure exact specifications are met.

The Kwik-Guard® W-Beam Rail has a thickness of 2mm, engineered to maximise safety, while being light and easy to install, increasing the safety of installation and reducing chances of injury.

The 2.7mm thickness is specified for roadside guardrails by RMS. In Australia, there is no specified thickness for car park and warehouse guardrails. Kwik-Guard® products are designed, engineered, and crash-tested to comply with AS1170 standards for car park and warehouse barriers.

The minimum embedment for stud anchors in Kwik-Guard® posts is 114mm.

Yes, ITPs for Kwik-Guard® guardrail barriers are available upon request. Please contact Guard-R for details.

Yes, the Kwik-Guard® system has been crash tested with the TB20160G Thru-Bolt Pro Wedge Anchor, the Kwik-Guard® system has also been certified by an independent engineer for Chemset studs, offering a more rigid anchor bolt product.

The base plate of the Kwik-Guard® post must not extend beyond the edge of the slab or footing.

The required post spacing is 2000mm centre-to-centre (C/C) with a minimum of three posts per run.

The system has been engineered and tested with B+Btec BIS-HY Gen2 Iccons® Injection Adhesive.

The expected maximum dynamic deflection for Type F Kwik-Guard® car park and warehouse guardrail barriers is 101mm.
