Unmatched Safety through Rigorous Crash Testing

In an ever-evolving industry prioritising public safety, Guard-R is dedicated to exceeding Australian safety standards through innovative solutions. The recent updates in our crash test results reaffirm our commitment to providing unmatched safety for your projects. This case study highlights the importance of crash testing, Guard-R’s adherence to updated safety regulations, and the ways our approach enhances the safety and reliability of our products.

The Significance of Crash Testing for Guardrails

Crash testing is vital to ensuring that guardrails effectively safeguard car park and warehouse users and infrastructure. Stringent testing protocols help identify and rectify potential deficiencies, reducing the likelihood of severe accidents. Key reasons why crash testing is essential include:

  • Safety and Reliability: Simulated real-world impacts validate guardrails’ performance under high-stress conditions, ensuring they can withstand significant forces without endangering lives.
  • Accident Prevention: Identifying weaknesses through rigorous testing helps reduce potential real-world liabilities, enhancing overall safety.
  • Enhanced Public Confidence: The assurance that every guardrail meets the highest standards reassures the public and stakeholders responsible for safety.

Meeting and Exceeding Australian Safety Standards

Guard-R aligns its crash testing protocols with key Australian safety standards, including:

  • AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8 Compliance: These standards outline car park & warehouse safety barrier specifications. Guard-R not only complies with these standards but integrates additional safety measures.

Our commitment to exceeding these standards sets Guard-R apart in the market, providing stakeholders with proven safety benefits.

Crash Test Results Overview

The Kwik-Guard® guardrail systems have undergone comprehensive dynamic testing in accordance with AS/NZS 1170.1:2002 Section 3.8, Crash tested by independent certifiers Australia Performance Vehicles (APV). The testing included both Type G and Type F configurations to assess their performance and compliance:

  • Medium Traffic Applications: A Type G 40 kN test was conducted on the Kwik-Guard® Double Height Base Plated Top Mount, equipped with double rail posts and two W beams using TB20160G through-bolt fixings. This configuration demonstrated compliance with Section 3.8(b), showcasing its energy-absorbing capabilities and effectiveness in preserving the substrate upon impact. Independent verification confirmed its reliability in medium traffic scenarios.
  • Light Traffic Applications: A Type F 30 kN test was performed on the Kwik-Guard® Single Height Base Plated Top Mount, featuring single rail posts with one W beam and TB20160G through-bolt fixings. This setup successfully met the requirements of Section 3.8(a)(i), confirming its impact resistance and energy-absorbing properties for light traffic areas.

These results underscore the compliance and reliability of Kwik-Guard® guardrails, offering assurance for their application in diverse traffic conditions and safety scenarios.

Conclusion: Uncompromising Safety and Compliance

At Guard-R, safety is non-negotiable. Our rigorous crash testing and commitment to exceeding updated Australian safety standards solidify our position as a market leader.
