Elizabeth Avenue, Clontarf Pedestrian Overpass

Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR)

Elizabeth Ave Brisbane, QLD, Australia
Project:

Project Overview

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), in partnership with the Australian and Queensland governments, initiated the Elizabeth Avenue Active Transport Overpass Project in response to community and school submissions. The primary objective: to deliver a safer, fully enclosed pedestrian crossing for students of Clontarf Beach State High School and the broader Redcliffe community.

Positioned approximately 35 metres south of the busy King Street intersection, the single-span, steel structure overpass addresses the critical need for pedestrian protection across a four-lane high-speed road. With a $19 million investment—jointly funded on an 80:20 basis under the Road Safety Program—the project focused on eliminating vehicle-pedestrian conflicts while enhancing connectivity and inclusivity for all users.

Guard-R’s Role

Guard-R was proud to support this high-impact community safety initiative by supplying Street-Guard® Type 1 RMS Pedestrian Fencing – Satin Black. This fencing was selected for its robust safety performance, RMS compliance, and premium finish, aligning perfectly with the project’s goal to deliver a safe and visually integrated pedestrian solution.
