Guard-R Group supplied Kwik-Guard® guardrail across ESR Wetherill Industry Park, one of Western Sydney’s newest logistics estates. The work gave builder Hindmarsh crash-tested protection matched to the risk at each part of the site.

The guardrails arrived in step with the build and were made to take the daily knocks of a working freight estate. For ESR Group, that meant slab edges, columns and people stayed protected from the moment vehicles started moving, with compliance already sorted.

A working estate that could not afford to slow down

Wetherill Park is built for heavy work. The estate runs four large warehouses with loading docks, hardstands and truck routes feeding constant freight movement. Every one of those zones puts vehicles close to structure and people. Reversing trucks, forklifts and round-the-clock loading are where a single knock can damage a column, a slab edge or a service run.

Builders work to fixed handover dates. When a safety item turns up late or fails sign-off, it stalls everything else in the operation. Hindmarsh needed protection that was right the first time and ready when the build needed it.

Matching the guardrail to the risk, zone by zone

• Double Height systems went into the hardest-hit zones such as loading docks and the truck routes feeding them
• Single Height systems handled general traffic and perimeter protection
• Class 1 and Class 3 variants matched the impact performance each area called for

The heights are not cosmetic. The Single Height systems carry a 30 kN impact rating. The Double Height systems step up to 40 kN for areas where heavier vehicles run. Both line up with the vehicle impact loads set out in AS/NZS 1170.1, so the protection was sized to the standard rather than guessed.

This is where a large estate gains value. One family of guardrail covers the full site, while each zone still gets the protection it actually needs.
